Claudie performing at the Fringe, RSE building. Modern grim take on ghastly schools and ghastly teachers and downtrodden women and arsehole men. Not badly done though.
Went courtesy of Rachel Petrie to the Cameo to see this thoroughly excellent film, on the back of the Playhouse concert recently. Had the advantage of not having to stand up and sit down every couple of songs.
Also, went beforehand to the newly opened Kings Theatre cafe, very acceptable coffee and scone.
Edinburgh Festival Fringe
Festival time, brought out of towners to Leith just enjoying the Fringe. The theme (for the programme entry ) was The Truth, whatever that was meant to be.
Entertainment: The DM Truth series, and Quiz - Album release year singles. Amazingly two women got 9/10, so we used the genius "stamp" tiebreaker. (How much was a First Class stamp in UK in 1998)

Reception: A full house and a great atmosphere. Everyone laughed where we hoped they would..The oft repeated "'80s " comments, but meant as praise.
DMCabaret
David Byrne in full pomp at The Playhouse, in great voice, tireless and a million song back catalogue. Massive production, choreographed within an inch of its life, no less impressive for all that.
Proved that David Byrne was the talented one.
Churlish to criticise, but the less dancers on stage the more sincere the songs.
Saw the very skilled Genesis tribute band last night at the Usher Hall, doing the post-Gabriel stuff, which doesn't have quite the same appeal. However, thoroughly enjoyed it, the singer mimicked Phil Collins remarkably well.
Blood on the Rooftops, then the Unquiet Slumbers...suite pretty moving.
Dale G had had his hip replacement on 6th June and missed Kraftwerk, alas!
Marvellous as ever, difficult to know where to start really.. Tonight's bloomer, Ralf duffing up the tune in TEE, his finger caught two keys, and then he repeated it to make it look like he meant it. But he couldn't fool me.
With Fraser, Ian ( who didn't sleep in), Gavin, and Bill. Dale had his hip replacement alas.
Got signed programme. It'll be worth a small amount of money someday.

Great couple of days in Inverness visiting Fraser and Ann. Super house warranting a putting green, Negronis, Leakey's, and a memory foam mattress; who could ask for more.
Yet, there was more; a trip to Fort Augustus, home made pizzas and The Sock Game.
A couple of days in London, catching up with AR. Plan to visit Kew aborted by Tube strike, but Plan B even better... Chelsea Physic Garden.
AR lives in Paddington Bear street. Very nice.
